— Where it comes from —

One mill. Since 1931.

Every Paqari throw is woven at a family cooperative in Arequipa, a city in the southern Peruvian Andes. It is the same mill that wove alpaca for the first generation of Peruvian exports nearly a century ago.

We work only with the first shearing — the softest fleece an alpaca produces in its lifetime — from animals that graze at 14,000 feet. Nothing is blended. Nothing is dyed when the natural color will do.

The only blanket I reach for.
I have cashmere throws that cost twice this. The Paqari is softer and somehow warmer. It has replaced everything else. I will probably buy one in every color.

A gift I'll remember giving.
Sent one to my mother for her birthday. She called crying. That is all you need to know about this blanket.

Worth the price. Every dollar.
I was hesitant at $245 until it arrived. The weight, the drape, the hand-knotted fringe — you can feel a century of craft in it.

Answers, honestly.

Baby alpaca is not a breed. It is the first shearing an alpaca produces in its life — taken when the animal is young, when the fiber is at its finest. The alpaca is not harmed.

Baby alpaca is warmer, more durable, and hypoallergenic. Cashmere pills more easily and contains lanolin traces that trigger allergies in many people.

Because we sell directly. No department store markup, no brand licensing fee, no wholesaler. We buy directly from the cooperative in Arequipa and ship directly to you. We cut out four middlemen.

With normal use and occasional dry cleaning, a baby alpaca throw will last 25 to 40 years. It softens with age. We expect these to be passed down.

Return it within 30 days for a full refund. We cover the return shipping. No forms. No explanations.
